Keshi pearls are small non-nucleated pearls typically formed as by-products of pearl cultivation. A Japanese word also meaning "poppy" (ケシ, 芥子), it is used in Japanese for all pearls that grew without a nucleus. Originally, keshi pearls referred to those pearls formed when a bead nucleus was rejected. Keshi Pearls are a phenomenon that places them in a standalone category in the Pearl world as arguably the only natural Pearls available in commercial quantities today! Because they have no nucleus, keshi pearls are composed entirely of nacre!.
The ‘freeform’ shape of the Pearl is often complimented by an incredibly stunning colour and lustre. Each Keshi Pearl is absolutely unique so matching strands becomes more about the size, colour and lustre (as it would be impossible to find Keshi Pearls with a matching shape!)
A genuine natural organic gem produced as a completely natural formation of calcareous concretions within the soft tissue (specifically the mantle) of a living shelled clam, mollusk or conulariid. Composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) “nacre” in minute crystalline form, which has been deposited in concentric layers in a ‘freeform’ or ‘baroque’ natural shape. Nacreous and iridescent, these non-nucleated Pearls are typically formed as by-products of Pearl cultivation and are arguably a form of ‘natural’ Pearl formation. Our salesman was very knowledgeable and personable. Prices were very fair, but I could have been taken advantage of. I later met a couple who knew the owner of this company and spoke very highly of them. That made me feel much better that I had been treated fairly. I would highly recommend this company.

Beautiful jewelry and excellent customer service. It is located on the third floor but not difficult to find once you get here.
